Susan Thieme is responsible for directing all aspects of the operations and administration of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, including support for development, grant research and writing, concert and special event management, along with providing oversight for marketing and communications. Her background spans business administration, marketing, theatrical production, and classical vocal performance. Prior to her role as managing director she was Left Coast’s marketing and box office manager for the 2017-18 season.
As a performer, Susan trained as a Studio Artist with the Knoxville Opera and a Fellow with CoOPERAtive; she holds music degrees from Cornish College of the Arts (B.M.) and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (M.M.) and has performed with the Knoxville Opera, West Bay Opera, Lyric Opera Northwest, and Lyric Theatre San Jose, among others. On the concert stage she performed the alto solos in Beethoven's Mass in C Major, Handel's Messiah, and excerpts from Verdi's Requiem.
Previous and upcoming production work includes stage managing Left Coast’s 2017 chamber opera double bill Death and a Knight, and freelance assignments with West Edge Opera, Valley of the Moon Music Festival, RealOpera and Earplay.
