TENDERHOOKS

Sunday, April 30, 2023 • 4pm

Tenderhooks, Anthony R. Green’s new chamber opera,  is the story of Nora and Sebastian, housemates struggling with enforced isolation during the pandemic. Things get complicated when they experiment with the eroticized technology of dating apps. Presented in a satirical mode, the performance is intended to amuse but also to provoke thought and to reveal unexamined assumptions.

This program opens with Sarah Hennies’ Everything Else. Hennies’ music explores creativity, perception, and queer and trans identity.

Audience Advisory: Please note that Tenderhooks includes sexual content.

4:30 MOVIE

Sunday, April 30, 2023 • 2pm

Kurt Rohde’s new micro-opera 4:30 Movie explores the relationship between two sisters: One has died from cancer, the other remains and remembers. A meditative program of music, video, and electronics creates a powerful immersive experience.

Music for percussion, violin, and cello sets the stage for the new opera – Kurt Rohde’s Sonic Tunic and credo petrified, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Chaconne, and Sarah Hennies’ Psalm I.
