You are invited to join us Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Ansel Adams House in San Francisco for a night out. Left Coast’s own Leighton Fong will present Schubert’s stunning Arpeggione Sonata in the intimate and warm acoustic of this historic private home, along with guest pianist Anne Rainwater.

Wine, a light supper, and dessert provided.

Leighton Fong, longtime member of LCCE, is Principal Cellist of the California Symphony. He plays regularly with Eco Ensemble and Empyrean Ensemble, and was a member of the SF Contemporary Players. Leighton studied at the SF Conservatory, the New England Conservatory, the Bern Conservatory in Switzerland, and the Royal Danish Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has taught at UC Berkeley since 1997.

Oakland-based pianist Anne Rainwater is a dexterous musician known for her vibrant interpretations of works from J.S. Bach to John Zorn. Recognized for her “boldly assertive rhetoric” (San Francisco Examiner) and “bright golden honeycomb for a brain” (Roy Doughty, poet), she has performed at a number of venues, universities, and festivals throughout the US and Europe, including the Donau Festival in Krems, Austria, Kampnagel in Hamburg, Germany, the Kennedy Center, Le Poisson Rouge, and Princeton University, among many others. Anne holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music and currently curates a monthly contemporary music gathering called the Vernon Salon Series. Highlights of the 2018/2019 season include a tour of South Carolina and Georgia with trombonist William Lang, the release of her Goldberg Variations CD in December 2018, and the completion of new piano solo album featuring the music of composer Jude Traxler to be released in the summer of 2019.
