Phil Acimovic
Phil Acimovic is a composer and performer living in Davis, CA. He has participated in the New Music on the Point, SICPP, and June in Buffalo summer festivals for new music. His chamber orchestra piece Quiet Streams was premiered by the St Louis Symphony as part of the Revision/s new music festival at UC Davis. In addition to composing he constructs sound installations, the most recent one called Speaking of Sound, an installation of meaningful sound memories from people’s lives. Phil is a devoted student of Javanese gamelan, having lived in Central Java for over two years. He studied closely with Bp. Wakidi Dwidjomartono and Bp. Darsono Hadiraharjo, along with several other prominent Javanese musicians. He currently studies composition at UC Davis.
